AusCham Vietnam Participates in Vietnam Corporate Sustainability Forum 2026 hosted by VCCI

HANOI, VIETNAM – 5 October 2026 – The Australian Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (AusCham Vietnam), represented by Board Director David Whitehead, participated in the Vietnam Corporate Sustainability Forum 2026 (VCSF 2026) in Hanoi.

Held under the theme “Accelerating Growth – Advancing Sustainability: Two Goals, One Shared Journey,” the Forum brought together policymakers, business leaders, domestic and international organisations, experts and representatives of the wider business community to discuss how Vietnam can pursue stronger economic growth while maintaining long-term sustainability and competitiveness.

Organised by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) through the Vietnam Business Council for Sustainable Development (VBCSD), VCSF has been held annually since 2014 and has become an important platform for dialogue between government, business and development partners on sustainable business practices and policy priorities.

A key focus of this year’s Forum was the need to move beyond growth driven primarily by resource inputs and towards a model based increasingly on productivity, science and technology, innovation and higher value creation.

Speaking at the Forum, VCCI Chairman Ho Sy Hung emphasised that breakthrough growth and sustainable development should be pursued as part of the same journey, with government providing an enabling environment, businesses taking a pioneering role, and science and technology serving as important drivers of growth.

Discussions also highlighted the growing importance of the green and digital transitions. Rather than being treated as separate compliance requirements, these transitions were presented as opportunities for businesses to improve productivity, strengthen resilience and create new sources of value.

Participants stressed that one of the major challenges facing businesses is no longer simply awareness of sustainability requirements, but the ability to translate commitments into practical, measurable actions. This includes developing credible sustainability strategies, reliable data and reporting systems, bankable transition projects, and stronger access to green and sustainable finance.

Business leaders also underlined the importance of extending sustainable practices across entire value chains. Cooperation between larger companies, suppliers, SMEs, financial institutions and government will be essential to ensure that sustainability strengthens the competitiveness of the broader business ecosystem.

For AusCham Vietnam and the Australian business community, these discussions are particularly relevant as sustainability, energy transition, ESG, innovation and responsible business practices become increasingly important considerations for investment and participation in regional and global supply chains.

AusCham Vietnam supports continued dialogue between government and the private sector to ensure that Vietnam’s sustainability ambitions are matched by clear policy frameworks, practical implementation mechanisms and access to the capital, technology and skills businesses need to transition successfully.

AusCham remains committed to contributing the perspectives of Australian businesses and supporting stronger collaboration between Australian and Vietnamese companies in sustainable growth, innovation and investment.
