AusCham Participates in Inter-Ministerial Dialogue on Labour and Tax Issues

Hanoi, 14 August 2026 – The Australian Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (AusCham) participated in the Inter-Ministerial Dialogue on Labour and Tax Issues, convened by the Ministry of Finance in coordination with the Vietnam Business Forum (VBF).

AusCham was represented in person by Mr. David Whitehead, Member of the Board of Directors, and Ms. Huong Tran, Head of Advocacy & Partnerships. A strong number of AusCham member companies also joined the dialogue online, reflecting the Australian business community’s significant interest in the matters discussed.

The dialogue brought together representatives from relevant government authorities, business chambers and the private sector to consider key regulatory and operational issues affecting businesses in Vietnam.

The discussion focused on two principal areas:

  • Practical issues relating to the regulations governing foreign workers in Vietnam, particularly intra-corporate transferees and the interaction among labour, tax, social insurance and investment requirements; and

  • Recommendations for improving the regulatory framework on labour outsourcing to better respond to businesses’ operational needs and developments in the labour market and global supply chains.

AusCham appreciates the Ministry of Finance, participating government authorities and VBF for facilitating this important dialogue. We also thank our member companies for their active participation, practical insights and continued contribution to AusCham’s advocacy work.

The input provided by businesses is essential to ensuring that the perspectives and operational concerns of the Australian business community are effectively represented in policy discussions with the Vietnamese Government.

VBF will continue to follow up with the relevant authorities on the matters raised. AusCham will keep its Members informed of further developments and opportunities to contribute to the policy dialogue.

AusCham Members who wish to receive a copy of the meeting minutes are invited to contact Ms. Huong Tran, Head of Advocacy & Partnerships, at advocacy@auschamvn.org.
