AusCham National Executive Director- Advertised Vacancy

The National Executive Director (NED) of the Australian Chamber of Commerce (AusCham) manages the HCMC and Hanoi offices and reports directly to the National Executive Committee. The NED acts as a liaison between the Committees, the Members, other Business Chambers and the community at large. The NED represents AusCham at professional meetings, events, on committees and in other capacities in partnership with the National Executive Committee.

Reports directly to National Executive Committee; reports downwards to respective Chapter Committees. The NED may liaises with individual Board Members within their areas of specialty however all issues identified and outcomes implemented must be communicated to the broader Board Members.

1. Management

  • Strategy – development and implementation of AusCham annual business plan/marketing plan for each product/service. Investigate and develop proposals of identified opportunities for evaluation and consideration at Board level;
  • Project Management – development of project plans, ensuring all projects and tasks are implemented on time and within budget, ensure performance against agreed goals are met, work with staff and suppliers to deliver key projects such as AusCham Ball(s), Australian Business Awards, Business Briefings and other functions, events and communication channels such as the website and e-newsletter;
  • Operations – initiate and address matters affecting the operations of the office such as labour, staff, membership, sponsorships and also work with external specialists where required;
  • Staff – recruit staff, manage workflow, supervise work progress, provide leadership, support and be pivotal in their career development.

2. Business Development
  • Sponsorships – account management of sponsors and generation of new sponsorships;
  • Memberships – generate new members, facilitate current members.

3. Reporting

  • Monthly Board Reports for HCMC and Hanoi Chapters including a summary of all projects, financials, operational issues and other content as specified by the Board.
  • Attend monthly Board Meetings and present/discuss the submitted monthly Board Report;
  • Ad hoc reports when requested by the Board.

4. Financial

  • P&L, budget development, monitoring of expenditure in conjunction with in-house Accountant & Finance Committee

5. Primary AusCham Representative
  • Represent AusCham at events & functions and maintain effective relationships with government bodies, professional agencies, members and other international business groups, alumni associations and the media.


  • High organizational and project management skills;
  • Managerial or supervisory experience;
  • Experience in a multicultural environment. Demonstrated familiarity working and leading foreign employees having English as their second language;
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with a strong background in managing relationships;
  • Experience dealing with senior management and/or government agencies;
  • Ability to initiate and work in an environment with little guidance or direction;
  • Appropriate technical skills, including but not limited to internet experience and proficiency with Office tools such as Excel, work processing and presentation packages;
  • Ability to work with a large number of people at all levels and in multiple types of organizations.

  • Degree in Business, Commerce, IT, Marketing, Education or similar;
  • Management or administrative experience, preferably in a foreign business environment;
  • Experience in operating in a committee decision-making environment;
  • Experience in preparing reports for performance and management purposes.
