Charitable Program

The AusCham Charitable Program

Objectives:


  • To fund sustainable charitable projects that aim to alleviate poverty, raise living standards, create opportunities or provide crisis relief in the communities where our members live and work in Vietnam.
  • To assist and add value for our members by identifying local partners and charitable projects that suit the objectives of members’ corporate charitable and community programs.


2006 – 2008 Program



CLAN Vietnam: Diabetes Club – HCMC (impacting regional level)

  • The Diabetes Club is run for children living with diabetes in Vietnam. The session educates parents on how to treat the disease.
  • Also the session will be providing free insulin for the children
  • AusCham is helping fund transporting people to this life saving seminar

CHIA (Children’s Hope in Action) Regional Medical Care – Hoi An

  • Funding for professional doctor training and support in regional Hoi An
  • Program is also supporting doctors to visit and assess children in regional areas who cannot reach the hospitals

CARE Australia Water Sanitation Program: Ca Mau

  • Assisted in funding water sanitation units for four needy schools in Ca Mau
  • This has assisted over 500 people in the local community

Heart Reach Australia Child Sponsorship Program – Mekong Delta

  • Funding for 30 needy children in Ben Tre Province;
  • Sponsorship covers the costs of school attendance, medical needs, food and clothing.

Infection Control at Binh Dan Hospital - Ho Chi Minh City
  • Funding and support for Dr Kim from Binh Dan Hospital to undertake a hospital infection control training in Geelong, Australia;
  • Dr Kim is using his knowledge to improve infection control practices and medical staff skills in HCMC.

Connecting Communities Vietnam (CCV) Cow Bank – Mekong Delta

  • Funding and support for CCV to provide cows to 50 families living below the poverty line in Hiep Hung Commune, Hau Giang Province;
  • Selling the calves will generate additional income for families is to allow their children to attend school;
  • CCV is also implementing projects in the areas of health and short term income generation in the same commune.

Surgery for Ethnic Minority Children – Central Highlands

  • Family Medical Practice and Interplant Australia completed free plastic surgery on four ethnic minority children with serious congenital abnormalities;
  • AusCham funded travel, food and accommodation costs for the children and their families.

Asia Injury Prevention Foundation – Ho Chi Minh City

  • Funding to supply 855 tropical helmets to the students and teachers of Truong Dinh Primary School in HCMC.
